Dry and cooked foods need different cup weights
Distinguish raw, cooked and drained food states when converting rice, beans and other recipe ingredients.
Choose the food state in the recipe
The black-bean references on this site give 194g per cup of dry beans and 172g per cup of cooked, boiled beans without salt. The rice references distinguish 158g per cooked parboiled cup and 185g per dry enriched long-grain cup.
A conversion is not a cooking-yield formula
These values convert separately measured food states to weight. They do not tell you how much cooked food a dry quantity will produce. Water uptake, cooking and draining affect the final yield.
Keep preparation attached to the result
Choose dry, cooked, drained, whipped or another listed method before scaling. The recipe converter prints the source alongside volume-to-weight results so the food reference can be checked later.
